We invite you to participate in the Ninth International Scientific Conference organized by the Department of Political Science, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, and the Center for Political Studies in Lviv, titled “Political Parties and Elections: Ukrainian and Global Practices” (in memory of Yuriy Shveda).

The International Scientific Conference will be organized and held with the support of the European Union under the framework of the “Erasmus+ Program” in the field of “Jean Monnet for Higher Education” (project “Political Institutions and Systems in Europe: Comparisons and Experience for Ukraine,” No. 101126702).

The theme of this year’s international conference is “Party-Electoral Processes and Political-Institutional Relations in the Context of the Russian-Ukrainian War and the Crisis of Global Development: Ukrainian, European, and Global Dimensions.”

The conference is tentatively scheduled for November 15–16, 2024, at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 1 Universytetska Street, Lviv.

The conference will be held in a mixed format (in-person and online). In case of any changes, participants will be informed. The working languages of the conference are Ukrainian, English, Polish, Slovak, Czech, and others.

This year’s international scientific conference will feature the following scientific sections:

  1. Recent trends, factors, issues, and consequences of the electoral process and party politics worldwide, in Europe, and in Ukraine in the context of war and uncertainty.
  2. Factors and frameworks of the functioning and transformation of political institutions, parties, and civil society organizations in Ukraine, European countries, and the world.
  3. Prospects and risks of overcoming the crisis and continuing the European Union’s integration process against the backdrop of national political processes: institutional, political, party, and electoral factors and the context of Ukraine and other countries.

The sections will run consecutively and follow the traditional conference format. The technical and procedural details of the conference will be determined and announced later.

Following the conference, the ninth volume of scientific articles and theses titled “Political Parties and Elections: Ukrainian and Global Practices” is planned for publication.

The organizing committee sets the following requirements for participation:

  1. To register for the conference, please fill out the registration form by October 27, 2024, via the provided link.
  2. By November 3, 2024, send the full text of your article or conference paper to Professor Vitaliy Lytvyn, Department of Political Science (lytvyn.vitaliy@gmail.com), formatted according to the following requirements.

Requirements for formatting articles and papers:

  • Maximum article length: 1 printed sheet (40,000 characters); paper length: 0.5 printed sheet (20,000 characters), A4 format, font size 14, Times New Roman, 1.0 line spacing, 1 cm paragraph indentation.
  • Margins: 2 cm on all sides.
  • Citations in square brackets immediately after the quote and alphabetically in the reference list.
  • The reference list must be in alphabetical order after the article or paper: first in Latin script, then Cyrillic.

The organizing committee reserves the right (based on formal criteria and anonymous peer review) to select or reject articles and papers for publication if they do not meet the outlined conference topics, selected scientific sections, or formatting requirements. They also reserve the right to reject works that do not meet quality, scientific rigor, or originality criteria. The committee may introduce additional manuscript requirements if necessary for the inclusion of the volume “Political Parties and Elections: Ukrainian and Global Practices” in international scientometric databases.

The conference program will be formed after reviewing all participation applications and will be announced later.
