Participants of the third annual Political Science Alumni Talks will include graduates of the academic courses “Comparative Politics: Political Institutions and Systems of Western European Countries” (bachelor’s students of the Political Science programme) and “Comparative Analysis of Political Institutions and Systems of Central and Eastern European Countries” (master’s students of the Political Science programme), representatives of the student society “Polis,” the non-governmental organization “Center for Political Studies. Lviv,” as well as students who plan to take these courses in the future.
The event is organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module project “Political Institutions and Systems in Europe: Comparison and Experience for Ukraine” (No. 101126702). The third Alumni Talks will serve as the final meeting within the project and will summarize the results of the development and implementation of academic courses dedicated to the political institutions and systems of Western and Central and Eastern European countries.
During the first thematic block, participants will discuss teaching and learning experiences within the courses, their practical significance for the professional training of political science students, and prospects for further improvement of the educational process. Special attention will be paid to the importance of comparative analysis of political institutions and systems in shaping modern political science and students’ professional competencies.
The second thematic block will focus on a discussion of contemporary transformations of political institutions in European Union countries and the possibilities of applying European political experience in Ukraine in the context of European integration, democratic reforms, and the country’s post-war development. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss both positive practices and potential challenges related to the adaptation of European institutional models in the Ukrainian context.
Based on the Alumni Talks, recommendations for the further development of academic courses will be elaborated, as well as a synthesis of the experience of implementing the Jean Monnet Module project in teaching disciplines related to political institutions and systems in Europe.
The Alumni Talks “Political Institutions and Systems Matter” will take place on May 19, 2026, in Room 301. The event will start at 15:00.
