The conference was held on 28–29 November 2025 and was organized as the 10th edition of the international scientific conference series “Political Parties and Elections: Ukrainian and Global Practices” (in memory of Yuriy Shveda) by the Department of Political Science at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, with the support of the Center for Political Studies in Lviv.
The conference brought together leading Ukrainian and international researchers, academics, experts, and analysts to discuss a wide range of topics focused on the institutional dynamics of political processes, interinstitutional interactions, the functioning of political parties, electoral procedures, and democratic mechanisms in the context of war and transitional periods. The thematic focus of the conference covered issues of institutional trust, the legitimacy of power, political participation, electoral processes, democratic resilience, the impact of war on political regimes, the transformation of civil society, as well as European integration challenges and political accountability within the emerging security order of Europe and the world.
The four conference panels reflected the broad range of participants’ research interests:
- Political Institutions, Party Politics, and Democracy: Problems and Prospects for Development in Times of War;
- Parties, Elections, Political Participation, and Democratic Practices and Challenges in Times of War and Post-War Transition: Global and Ukrainian Experiences;
- Transformation of Political and Civic Institutions: Between Democratic Resilience, Autocratic Appeals, and Public Trust;
- The European Union, Democracy, Political Accountability, and Integration Challenges: Prospects for Ukraine and European Countries in the New Political Order.

N. Karazin Kharkiv National University; Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University; Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University; Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University; Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University; Ukrainian Catholic University; the Razumkov Centre; and other leading universities and analytical institutions.
